A. Planet Earth or Planet Plastic?
1. A two-hour multi-media lecture and presentation for college level learners and beyond.
2. Extended learning opportunity: A four-hour multi-media lecture presentation for high-school and college level learners.

- After learning about the crisis, participants will be invited to write a reflective essay on what impressed them the most about this crisis. These essays can be bundled as a call to action and sent to government officials and advocate groups that stand for solutions to the plastics crisis.
- After learning about the history of plastics, participants will be invited to work in a team to critically consider alternatives to single-use plastics and our toxic dependence on plastics today. Each team will make a Power Point Presentation and/or poster to be displayed on site at their schools and/or local City Hall.
- Participants will be given a tool-kit which will provide them a choice of opportunites to take action and make a difference in their home, school, community, and planet.
B. The ABC's of Recycling
1. A two-hour multi-media lecture presentation for college level learners and beyond.
1. After learning about the different materials that we use daily and how we may recycle them, or not, we will approach the best practices in how to practice and promote recycling in our communities.
2. Participants will be invited to create their own recycle message in art to share with their community leaders, school or family member. This could be a poster or an actual object d’ arte with recyclable items.
3. Extended Learning Opportunity - Time Needed TBD:
Objectives
• Students will map their community to determine a need for a recycling program.
• Students will be encouraged to become responsible for the environmental impact of their choices.
• Students will examine how they can take responsibility for lessening their impact on the environment through recycling.
• Students will use their knowledge to educate others in their school, family, and community.
Essential Questions for Students
• How do individual choices to recycle affect our community?
• What personal responsibility do individuals have to recycle?
• What responsibility do individuals have to advocate for recycling?
Learning Outcomes
• Students will realize their ability to impact the environment.
• Students will develop oral and written presentation skills such as supporting a point of view, clearly conveying ideas and information, and creating graphs to convey their findings.
• Students will develop their ability to conduct research.
